Learn how to surf and have surfing lessons at Pines Surfing Academy, an ASI accredited surf school located at Wollongong, Shellharbour, The Farm and Port Kembla, approximately 1 hour south of Sydney, Australia.
Pines Surfing Academy is owned and run by Vaya Phrachanh. He's from the local area, is an elite advanced surfer and has been surfing from a young age.
Vaya has competed in local pro junior competitions, is a member of the North Wollongong Surf Club, previously worked in retail management in surf shops and ran the Wahine All Girls Boardriders club. He is an ASI Level 3 Surfing Coach and holds surf rescue, advanced resuscitation and first aid certificates.
Pines Surfing Academy is also an ASI Instructor Training Centre (ITC). Vaya is an ASI Level 2 Trainer and is authorised to train others to be ASI accredited surfing instructors.
There is a team of highly experienced accredited instructors at Pines Surfing Academy. They hold surf rescue, advanced resuscitation and senior first aid qualifications. Some instructors are also currently competing on the WQS and winning events. Pines Surfing Academy won the "Peoples Choice" award in the Illawara Business Awards and were placed in the finals of the Tourism Category.
Pines Surfing Academy offers group and private surfing lessons, beginner to advanced level, surfing guide trips, team building, surfing awareness for adults, parties, girls only, mothers groups, school groups and corporates.
Competition coaching is offered for aspiring surfing champions. And local surfing competitions are also run by Pines to help you increase your competitions skills. Pines also created and runs the annual "Pines Surfing Academy Inter School Challenge", with high school teams coming from near and far to compete.
The team at Pines is all about building relationships and supporting one another in making a life of fun and friendship. It's about sharing the real joy of surfing. The feeling of paddling out on a board into the ocean, being cleansed by the
water and relaxing out the back surrounded by nature whilst waiting for the waves to come.
