Level 2 Bodyboarding Coach

Coach individuals and groups to improve intermediate to advanced level bodyboarding ability. 

Advanced level surf locations in surf up to 6ft (2 metres)

Bodyboarding instructor in the bodyboarding or outdoor recreation industry.

Before enrolling in this course, you will have:

  • at least 500 hours bodyboarding experience 
     

  • bodyboarding skills and knowledge equivalent to ASI Advanced Bodyboarding Level.  Able to perform and link advanced level manoeuvres including Air, ARS (air, roll, spin), tube riding, back flip, drop knee (slash, tail slide, floater), in surf up to 6ft  (2 metres) at different surf breaks.

  • Minimum of 12 months bodyboarding instruction experience.
     

  • English speaking skills 

Pre-requisite Courses

  • Hold ASI Level 1 Bodyboarding Instructor certificate.

The following study options are available for this course.

Workshop:  An intensive course that focuses on the major components, with the ability to interact with the trainer and the group. 
Duration:  2 days.

Skills Requirements

Demonstrate bodyboarding skills and knowledge equivalent to ASI Advanced Bodyboarding Level.  Able to perform and link advanced level manoeuvres including Air, ARS (air, roll, spin), tube riding, back flip, drop knee (slash, tail slide, floater), in surf up to 6ft  (2 metres) at different surf breaks.

  • Workshop:  practice at workshop. Submit own video after workshop.


Practical Hours Experience
Complete 25 hours practical work experience, assisting in the delivery of intermediate bodyboarding lessons, at an ASI or approved Bodyboard or Surf school.  Submit logbook of hours.

  • Workshop:  after the workshop. Recognition of previous bodyboarding instruction experience can be provided.

  • Submit a current ASI Surf Rescue certificate or other surf rescue certificate 

  • Submit a current senior first aid certificate

Surf Rescue and First Aid Certificates can be provided before or after workshop or within 12 months of enrolment. 

Time to Complete 
You have 12 months from date of workshop, or date or online enrolment, to complete all course requirements.

The following equipment and clothing is required to complete the training:

  • Bodyboarding clothing

  • Bodyboard, fins, leash to demonstrate advanced level bodyboarding skills

  • Access to ASI bodyboarding or surf school to complete your practical hours training

ASI Level 2 Bodyboarding Coach
(valid for 12 months from date of workshop)

Each year, ASI Instructors renew their ASI Bodyboarding Instructor certificate.
