SUP Pilates Instructor

If you have an existing pilates business, it’s a great way to expand your services. SUP Pilates sessions are in demand.
Don’t learn by trial and error. This course covers a range of pilates exercises modified for SUP and how to perform them, risk management and safety, equipment to use and how to anchor boards, example session plans and more.
Study by attending a workshop or completing the ASI online learning course.
Aim
Deliver SUP Pilates sessions at flat water locations, in waist deep water, no more than 50 metres from shore.
Locations
Qualified to teach at SUP Pilates locations, defined as:
inland waters or coastal locations with flat water, no swell or breaking waves, minimal or no wind
water depth no more than 4ft (standing depth)
no more than 50 metres from shore
paddling less than 50 metres to get to the SUP pilates activity area

Entry Requirements
Before starting this course:
hold a Pilates Level 3 Teaching Certificate or equivalent
have participated in, or practiced on your own, a minimum of 10 hours of SUP pilates sessions.
a minimum of 20 hours on water SUP paddling experience.
able to paddle a SUP board with confidence
English speaking skills

ASI's e-learning platform provides access to training manuals, videos, reference materials and assessments.
Course Requirements
Here is what you complete to gain your ASI SUP Pilates Instructor qualification.

Knowledge and Skills
Review SUP Pilates Instructor theory, complete assessments and exercises.
Review of basic stand up paddling skills and basic rescue skills.
Complete multi-choice online tests.
Demonstrate ability to perform SUP pilates exercises with safety.
Demonstrate ability to prepare the class - enter the water, anchoring, organise group ready to start the session.
Demonstrate ability to conduct class with correct sequencing, techniques and safety.
Practical Hours Experience
Complete 10 hours practical work experience, assisting in the delivery of SUP Pilates sessions at an ASI or approved SUP school.
Recognition of previous SUP pilates instructing experience can be accepted.

Submit your SUP Pilates Teaching certificate - submit at time of enrolment
Submit a current senior first aid certificate Acceptable First Aid certificates

Submit Working with Children Check: if applicable to your country.
Note: First Aid Certificate can be provided before or after workshop or within 12 months of enrolment.
Time to Complete: You have 12 months from date of workshop, or date of online enrolment, to complete all course requirements.
Equipment
The following equipment and clothing is required to complete the training:
SUP flat water SUP board, paddle, coiled leash
SUP clothing suitable for SUP Pilates
Computer or mobile phone to access SUP Wise Intensiv and SUP Rescue online reference manuals
In addition, for the Online learning option:
Video camera or mobile phone to take video of practical skills and submit online
2 x persons to be your clients
Anchoring system
Certificate Issued
ASI Stand Up Paddle Pilates Instructor certificate
Valid for 12 months
Renewal
Each year, Instructors renew their ASI SUP Pilates Instructor certificate.

Study Option – Workshop
An intensive face to face course that focuses on the major components, with the ability to interact with the trainer and the group. SUP Pilates exercises and delivery techniques are assessed at the workshop.

Demonstrate ability to conduct SUP Pilates class with correct sequencing, techniques and safety.
After workshop:
Complete 10 hours of practical experience (2 hours signed off in workshop).
Complete multi-choice online tests for:
SUP Yoga Teacher knowledge
Stand Up Paddle skills (SUP Wise Intensiv) knowledge

These courses provide access to the online manuals, allowing you to learn more about these skills and complete online quizzes. Practical skills in these areas are covered at the workshop. While completing these courses is not required to obtain your SUP Pilates Instructor certificate, you may choose to submit additional evidence to obtain this certification.
If you already possess these certificates, there is no need to enrol in these courses.
Re-assessment Fees: If you haven't fully mastered your SUP Pilates skills during the workshop, there's no need to worry! We'll give you targeted feedback on the areas that need improvement. You can then submit video evidence for re-assessment at no extra cost. Please note, however, that any additional re-assessments beyond this will incur a fee. See Fees

Study in your own time with ASI's e-learning platform. Upload videos to demonstrate skills.
