Locations / Remit
Conduct rescues at:
Flat water, no swell (unbroken waves), no breaking waves
Inland waterways including rivers, lakes, estuaries, canals
Coastal locations
Career Outcomes
Water safety roles within the SUP industry or outdoor recreation industry.
A current SUP rescue certificate is required for ASI instructors operating in SUP enclosed or exposed waters environments.

Entry Requirements
Before starting this course, you must have:
Be medically and physically fit.
Able to swim 100 metres (328 ft), run 200 metres (650 ft), prone paddle SUP board 200 metres (650ft) - within 10 minutes - without stopping.
English speaking skills (online courses have translation)

Demonstrate correct technique to rescue an unconscious person using double roll method with your SUP board (in deep water) and paddling patient successfully back to shore.

First Aid Certificates can be provided either before or after the workshop, or within 12 months of enrollment. However, please note that your ASI Rescue certificate will only be issued once we receive your First Aid Certificate.

Course Requirements - Fasttrack
The ASI Fasttrack course is an online course with a face to face (in-person) workshop. Cover key skills and prepare participants to submit their own video for assessment, after the workshop.
Duration: 1 hour workshop. Plus approx. 4 hours including time to take video.

At Workshop:
Practice timed fitness mission test: swim 100 metres (328 ft), run 200 metres (650 ft), prone paddle SUP board 200 metres (650ft) within 10 minutes, without stopping.
Practice techniques to rescue an unconscious person using double roll method with your SUP board (in deep water) and paddling patient successfully back to shore.
After Workshop:
Complete multi-choice test.
Submit video of your timed fitness mission test: swim 100 metres (328 ft), run 200 metres (650 ft), prone paddle SUP board 200 metres (650ft) within 10 minutes, without stopping.
Submit video of rescuing an unconscious person using double roll method with your SUP board (in deep water) and paddling patient successfully back to shore.
Note: If you demonstrate competency in the timed fitness Mission test at the workshop, you do not need to submit a video afterward.

Equipment
The following equipment and clothing is required to complete the training:
Flat water stand up paddle board, paddle, coiled leash
SUP clothing suitable for paddling and suitable for immersion in water when performing rescues
In addition, for courses with online learning:
Computer or mobile phone to access ASI e-learning platform
Another person to be your patient
Video camera or mobile phone to take video of practical skills.
GPS tracking device such as a watch or phone GPS apps to record your fitness mission test eg...map my run. Or submit google map.
Certificate Issued
ASI Stand Up Paddle Water Safety Rescue Award (Flat Water)
Valid for 24 months.
Renewal
There is no renewal for this certificate. To obtain a new certificate, participants complete the course again to update skills and knowledge.
