Locations
Intermediate level SUP surfing locations are defined as:
- Non pitching (shallow plunging) waves 3-4ft (1 metre)
- Sandy beach with even gradient and channel
- Free from strong rips, hazards, dumping shore break
- Wind speed less than 12 knots, offshore winds up to 10 knots

- Assistant Stand Up Paddle Instructor in the SUP or outdoor recreation industry.

Environment & Safety
- Identify SUP surf hazards and self rescue techniques at the intermediate level
- Choose a safe SUP surf location
- Demonstrate correct wipe-out and mount/dismount
- Demonstrate correct SUP etiquette
Equipment & Clothing
- Choose suitable SUP surfing board and accessories
- Choose suitable clothing for SUP surfing
Paddle Skills
- Choose a suitable place for entering and exiting the water

Entry Requirements
Before enrolling in this course:
Experienced in SUP surfing waves up to 4ft.
Be able to swim 200 metres (656 ft), without stopping.
Have English speaking skills

This is a participation course only.
There is no assessment.
Attend workshop, participate in theory and on water practical paddling sessions.
