Cornwall Council - England UK, issues tender
Posted: 6 January 2015
Commercial operators on selected Cornwall beaches will have to apply for a permit under a tender arrangement. Applications close 13 February 2015.
The concession opportunities will operate on all Council beaches that have not been leased out and where water-based activities are considered suitable.
The beach sites where this will apply are: Harlyn, Booby’s Bay, Constantine Bay, Porthcothan, Mawgan Porth, Long Rock, Crooklets, Summerleaze, Widemouth, Polzeath, Par Sands and Seaton.
The activities considered within this are as follows: surf tuition, paddleboard tuition, kayak/canoe tuition, kitesurfing/windsurfing tuition, lifeguarding qualifications and activity coaching qualifications.
Extensive consultation was held during 2014 to work out the best pricing model as well as student capacity at each of the beaches. These range from 112 students at Harlyn Beach to 16 at Porthcothan and Crooklets.
