IRELAND. An exciting weekend of SUP Surfing as the annual IRISHSUP SURF CLASSIC 2022 took place, part of the Battle for the Lake weekend in Achill Island, Co. Mayo, and proudly sponsored by ASI!
After two days of wind and rain, weather cleared up on Sunday 2nd October as entrants from all over Ireland, Wales and France ages 16-60+ gathered to enjoy 6 hours of competition, decent surf, and at times some challenging conditions. Huge congratulations to all who entered and took part!
The Mens Open was dominated from start to finish by the British Champion Ollie Laddiman, styling his way through 5 rounds to take the Mens title.
The Ladies was a great final with Mia Hamilton and the newcomer Caoimhe Galligan Byrne battling out for first place. With absolutely nothing separating them, MIa took a well-deserved win.
The First Timers was tightly competed with Galway Windsurfer Julius Byrne surfing with great form to take the win, and 16-year old Caoimhe Galligan Byrne taking second place.
Again, congratulations to all competitors.
