Learning to Paddleboard with Cerebral Palsy

AUSTRALIA. The benefits of SUP are far-reaching, as we discover more about this outdoor watersport and the direct link it can have to our physical, mental and emotional wellbeing.
ASI SUP Instructor, Rebecca Dunning, from Stand Up Paddleboarding Shellharbour, works with people of all backgrounds, using SUP to achieve some truly life-enhancing results. This was certainly the case with Sara Egan, who has cerebral palsy, a condition that affects motor ability. Particularly challenging for paddleboarding, CP can impact body movement, muscle control, muscle coordination, muscle tone, reflex, posture and balance.
Sara successfully achieved her sporting goals through a combination of Rebecca’s guidance, strong determination and a special connection she felt to the waters.
