SUP Away Holiday in Costa Rica

Playa Negra SUP Wave Riders, is an ASI Accredited SUP School, located at Playa Negra Costa Rica.  They and offer all-inclusive holidays, tours and SUP lessons from flat water to SUP surfing.
 
Location
Playa Negra is in the province of Guanacaste on the northwest Pacific coast.   It has stunning beaches, pristine, tropical waters, abundant wildlife and warm welcoming locals. You can SUP along beautiful rivers and the ocean, all while an amazing array of wildlife swim beneath you. Stingrays, turtles, huge varieties of fish and sometimes, if you’re lucky, even whales and dolphins!

SUP Activities
Playa Negra SUP Wave Riders offers group and private SUP lessons, certificate courses, SUP guided tours.
 
River Tours:   The school have SUP river tours which run along 2 beautiful estuaries, perfect for seeing the abundant wildlife both in and out of the water while relaxing in the natural environment. You will paddle along the calm flat waters and through the mangrove forests.
 
SUP Surfing;   Beginners SUP surf lessons will teach you everything you need to be able to SUP Surf in small ocean waves safely and confidently. In small surf and nice calm waters, instructors will teach you how to paddle out through the beach break, introduce you to different techniques and even catch some waves!
 
Rentals:  After a few lessons and tours, you can rent boards and practice and explore in you own time.

SUP Family Activities
Families are most welcome. Smaller children can participate in the river tours by sitting on the front of their parents SUP board. For children over 6 years old, they can try paddling a smaller board by themselves.

What’s included
All SUP tours and lessons include board, paddle, leash, fresh drinking water and the all-important photos.

Facilities
There are changing rooms and washroom facilities at the nearby Hotel Playa Negra on the beach for use by the school.

Getting there
Liberia is the closest airport with regular international flights in and out of the country.
Playa Negra SUP Wave Riders are located only 70 minutes from Liberia airport and they provide airport transfers.
If you prefer to make your own way to the Playa Negra there are good local and private buses that leave from the airport.

With so many places to eat, you can have a wonderful Costa Rican dining experience. Experience a wide variety of local cuisine as well as some from five-star restaurants.
 
Best time of year to visit
Best time of year to visit is November through to August. The weather is hot and sunny every day until May when you might experience the occasional shower in the afternoon.

Local tourist attractions
Playa Negra has so much to offer in terms of tourist experiences. From river rafting, cave exploring, turtle watching to horse riding, snorkelling and volcano hiking. With TVP you can book an experience to suit you from an adrenaline fuelled zip wire through the jungle canopy to a more relaxing boat trip.

A visit to Tamarindo (20 minutes to the north) there is always something going on like a festival, a rodeo or a music concert. Most of these things are usually completely free to participate in. So, get among the locals, go off the beaten track and experience Costa Rica Tico style.
