The Scotts Head Paddle Games June 2018, NSW Australia

The Scotts Head Paddle Games is one of the most popular events on the SUP calendar. A community run event that focuses on fun and participation. This years 2018 Scott’s Head Paddle Games, held on 15-17 June 2018, at Scotts Head, NSW Australia, was blessed with beautiful sunny conditions and small surf throughout this three-day event.

The Paddle Games uses the full festival format with Surf, BOP and Downwind. Plus it is open to Prone Board and Spec Skis. The 90 plus competitors went through several rounds of heats and finals in a fast fading swell.

There was a full cohort of participants with categories from Under 19’s through to over 65’s, with both male and female events evenly represented.

The Downwind and the BOP Technical Race was met with perfect conditions on the Saturday afternoon and Sunday. Some of Australia’s best competitors were racing alongside beginners, wanting to experience SUP racing for the first time. There was also a small field of local surf ski paddlers out racing alongside the SUP’s.

Everyone had a great time and ASI SUP Yoga trainer Matt Worley put on some really good Yoga demonstrations throughout the event.

The results:
The Open overall winners in the Male and Female were Evan Green and Keale Dorries. The Paddle League Male and Female Winners were Harry Maskell and Terrene Black. Cinde Fisher won the Over 10ft Women’s Over 45 SUP Surfing class.

Equipment Sponsors provided great support with many prizes donated for the raffle on the last day. The local community provided great support supplying meals throughout the event.
