Meet the Team
Ocean Sports Centre is owned and run by Glenn Eldridge, and elite International competitor include a ‘Surf Ironman’ in Surf Life Saving, European medalists along with training and racing as part of the British Olympic Racing Squad in sprint kayak (k4 1000m). And now a world medalist in long distance ocean ski.
He has spent a life time spent immersed in the ocean, competing, working as a professional beach lifeguard in the UK and Australia, surfing and paddling whichever craft he could get his hands on.
Glenn holds various instructor qualifications in SUP, outrigger canoe, kayak and is a qualified beach lifeguard. SUP instructor qualifications include flat water, coastal exposed locations, SUP surfing, SUP downwind, SUP foiling.
He also holds a Masters in Sports Science and a PhD in sports. He has previously worked as a college lecturer in sports science and continues to do research for SUP and other water sports.
Glenn is an experienced competition event organiser for SUP and outrigger canoe sports.
He started Ocean Sports Centre to offer SUP and a variety of water sports and introduce people to sports that he loves.
Ocean Sports is also an AALA (Adventures Activities Licencing Authority) Accredited Centre – this ensures we have the correct support craft and safety procedures in place if you should ever need assistance.
Glenn is assisted in the SUP with ASI accredited SUP Instructors, all with local knowledge of the area.
Service Overview
Ocean Sports Centre offers group and private SUP lessons from beginner to advanced levels for kids, adults, parties, stag and hen groups, school groups, corporate and family groups.
SUP tours take you along the coast to St Ives and other locations.
Skills training and personal elite competition coaching is available for SUP flat water and downwinding.
The centre also offers SUP foiling using Glenn’s specially developed techniques.
SUP competition race events organised are the St Ives Bay Celtic Cup and Bucca Kri.
Join in the activities at the Ocean Sports Club, a community of people enjoying the ocean using a variety of craft from Stand Up Paddle boards, Outrigger canoes and sit on kayaks.
Ocean Sports Centre is also an ASI Instructor Training and Glenn Eldridge is authorised to train others to be ASI SUP Instructors.
School Features
Ocean Sports Centre school is located right on the beach.
With changing rooms and toilets, places to store your gear or you can just hang out with like-minded people.
There is also a café right on the water, with outdoor deck – ideal for watching the water action and stunning sunsets in summer.
It’s a fun place to be.
Parking is nearby.
The train station is also right at Carbis Bay, only a 5 minute walk to the beach.

The ocean waters are clam and protected and offer excellent flat water conditions for beginners.
Further out, you can paddle into St Ives, find some surf breaks or enjoy some downwinding. This location has it all.
