Meet the Team
Surf in Paradise is owned and run by Chris Maley. Chris has been surfing since he was 6 years old. He grew up surfing on the south coast of NSW but has spent the last 25 years living on the Gold Coast. He's been surf coaching for years, working with different surf schools and people of all backgrounds before setting up his own school.
Chris is a qualified surfing instructor, holds surf rescue, senior first aid and advanced resuscitation qualifications. He also has a degree in Coastal Resource Management, worked for Queensland Education Dept as a teachers aid for special needs children and has additional valuable ocean experience gained from sailing charter yachts for tourists.
Surf in Paradise are one of the most established surf schools on the Gold Coast and have been operating since 2006. Chris has created learn to surf lesson and activities customised by years of experience to ensure you have great surfing experiences.
Chris is assisted in the surf school by a team of highly qualified ASI surfing instructors.
Service Overview
Surf in Paradise offers group and private surfing lessons for beginners and intermediate level, as well as surf wise certificate courses, surf guide trips, and surfing awareness sessions for all ages.
Kids surf camps are available throughout the year.
After school squads are held each week for school kids as well as mums only classes.
Surf in Paradise also specialise in providing lessons and activities for groups including school sports and overseas tourist groups.
Corporate groups can be accommodated - it’s a great way to get out of the office and enjoy a fresh, creative and enjoyable team building activity.
With a maximum of only 5 students per class, you'll receive personalized attention from their expert instructors, ensuring a safe and fun learning environment.
They will also guarantee you will be standing in your first surf lesson or they will give your second lesson for free!
Location Features
Surf lessons are held at The Spit which is just a short 10-minute drive north of Surfers Paradise.
It is a unique location on the Gold Coast as it has a break wall, that offers protection from stronger sweeps. This creates perfect sandbanks and ideal gentle waves for beginner surfing.
There are also larger waves nearby so you can progress your surfing to the intermediate level.
The Spit offers consistent surf conditions, even on smaller days, ensuring that there are always waves to ride.
