Cheyne Horan is a legend in the surfing industry and famous for his innovative surfing that made him a world champion.  He has created innovative board and fin designs and developed surf school operations and learn to surf lessons as we know it today, that makes his surf school unique in helping you learn to surf .

The surf school has delivered lessons to thousands of students, helping them master surfing with the Cheyne Horan special learn to surf techniques.  Cheyne has coached many surfers to become world surfing champions.    

Cheyne Horan School of Surf is owned and run by Cheyne Horan. He is a world surfing champion and big wave surf rider.  Cheyne started competing on World Professional Surfing Tour in 1973, at 16 years of age.   He competed through until 2004 with 12 victories and consistently placed in the worlds top 5.

Cheyne has also ridden some of the largest waves on the planet including the almighty Jaws.   He has been, and still is, a major innovator in the development of new surfing techniques and products.   He was the first person to complete and perfect the 360 turn.

Cheyne is a life member of the Australian Surfing Professionals, is an ASI Master Surfing Coach (Level 4), holds numerous lifesaving qualifications, has been involved in the local Boardriders club, and has produced numerous books and DVDs.

For all his experience, Cheyne enjoys teaching people and has developed unique training techniques that help students to stand up in the easiest, quickest and safest way possible, with the ultimate in fun.

All instructors have been personally trained by Cheyne. They are highly experienced surf coaches and elite surfers, holding surf rescue and senior first aid qualifications. 

The Cheyne Horan School of Surf offers group and private surfing lessons, Surf Wise beginner and intermediate surfing certificate courses, team building for kids, adults, parties, school groups and corporates.

The surf school specialises in offering advanced surfing level sessions and personal elite coaching services for aspiring surfing professionals.

Large groups can be accommodated.

The surf school is located right in the heart of the Gold Coast, at Surfers Paradise with their shop front in Hanlin Avenue.

Lessons are conducted at Surfers Paradise beach, straight across the road from the shop.

It offers white sandy beaches and perfect sized waves for all levels of surfing ability.

Cafes and shops are all close at hand, making it perfect to relax in after your surfing sessions.  

The beautiful Gold Coast is famed for its long sandy beaches and great waves with excellent surfing spots such as Snapper Rocks, Burleigh Heads and Kirra.

The Gold Coast is also home to theme parks such as Dreamworld, Sea World and Wet’n’Wild. 

Just inland are Inland hiking trails crisscrossing the Lamington National Park’s mountain ridges and valleys, home to rare birds and rainforest.
