The Cheyne Horan School of Surf has been operating for over 35 years, making it one of the most established surf schools around the world.

The Surf School is proudly owned and operated by Cheyne Horan, a world-renowned surfing champion and big wave rider. Cheyne began competing on the World Professional Surfing Tour in 1973 at the young age of 16. He continued to compete until 2004, achieving 12 victories and consistently placing in the world's top 5.

Cheyne has conquered some of the planet's largest waves, including the legendary Jaws. As a major innovator in the development of new surfing techniques and products, he was the first person to complete and perfect the 360 turn.

He is a life member of the Australian Surfing Professionals, an ASI Master Surfing Coach (Level 4), and holds numerous lifesaving qualifications. He has also been actively involved in the local Boardriders club and has produced numerous books and DVDs.

As one of the pioneers in setting up a surf school, Cheyne created formats for teaching surfing and systems for safe surf school operations. Over 90% of surf schools in Australia and around the world currently use these methods to teach beginners the basics of surfing and the rules of the sport.  He has also set up and operated surf school in other countries, including Bali, Indonesia.

Despite his extensive experience, Cheyne still enjoys teaching people and has developed unique training techniques that help students stand up in the easiest, quickest, and safest way possible, with the ultimate in fun.

Lessons are held at Surfers Paradise beach, conveniently located just across the road from the shop.

This beach offers white sandy shores and perfectly sized waves for beginners.

There are also waves that cater to all levels of surfing ability, with world class surf breaks nearby, ensuring you will find great surf suitable for your skill level.

Cafes and shops are nearby, making it an ideal spot to relax after your surfing sessions.

Additionally, surf lessons are held at Burleigh, depending on the conditions.
