Learn how to surf and have surfing lessons at Culdaff Surf School, an ASI accredited surf school, located at Culdaff, on the north east coast of Donegal.  It’s only 3.5 hours drive from Dublin and only a 35 minute drive from Derry.

Culdaff Surf School is owned and operated by John Mason.  He is an elite-advanced level surfer and has surfed all over Ireland and other countries including Indonesia, Europe, UK, Australia. 

John has been surf coaching since 2015 and delivered sessions to thousands of students from all ages and backgrounds. He has also help groms develop their competition surfing skills.

John started the surf school to introduce others to the surfing experience. Surfing has had a big impact on his life.  It has given him a sense of purposes and fulfilment.  It has allowed him to travel the world, make new friends and gain enjoyment from catching the waves and being out on the water.   

As a result,  John has an interest in developing the next generation of surfers and would like to see surfers from his  local area succeed and improve their ability.

John  has also worked for 7 summers on Irish beaches as a lifeguard and has excellent knowledge of the local surf breaks and conditions.  

A qualified ASI Surfing instructor, John also holds surf rescue and first aid qualifications, Safeguarding 1, a PGC in Education and a Bachelor of Science in Biology.

He is the main instructor and is assisted by ASI qualified instructors.

Culdaff Surf School offers group and private surfing lessons, Surf Wise beginner to advanced surfing certificate courses, team building, surfing awareness for kids, adults, parties, school groups, hens and stag parties and corporates. 

Our main priority is the safety and enjoyment of our clients.  We cover surf safety and techniques to get you up and surfing in no time.

Surf camps for kids and adults are also offered.

Equipment rentals are available with a wide selection of surfboards, wetsuits, and other equipment available for rent. 

Private coaching is available to help develop your surfing skill – from intermediate to advanced level.

Surf lessons are held at Culdaff Caravan Beach, which is one of the best surfing spots in Inishowen.

The beach is known for its consistent waves, all year round, and its beautiful scenery.

There are ideal beginner surf waves and a safe location, making it easy to learn to surf.  There is also intermediate to advanced level surfing waves.

Culdaff Beach is a sandy Blue Flag Beach, with sand dunes and the Culdaff River nearby.
