Learn how to surf and have surfing lessons at Currumbin Alley Surf School, an ASI accredited surf school located at Currumbin Alley, Gold Coast, Queensland.

It's one of the Gold Coast's best locations for learning to surf.

Currumbin Alley Surf School is owned and run by Sam Chilcott. He's from the local area, is an elite-advanced surfer and has been surfing from a young age. The surf school is one of the Gold Coast's "original"  surf schools. Sam's mother, Tracey, started the school back in 1992, teaching a few friends and was soon in demand.

Sam started helping out in the surf school at an early age. He also travelled overseas in search of the perfect wave. He worked along the way - working as a surf guide in Morocco for advanced surfers and delivering learn to surf lessons and surf safety in the USA, Ireland and England.

Sam is an accredited ASI Surfing Instructor, holds surf rescue, first aid and advanced resuscitation certificates. He also completed a Bachelor of Exercise Science to complement his love of surfing.

Sam is assisted in the surf school with a team of experienced ASI accredited surfing instructors.

Currumbin Alley Surf School offers group and private surfing lessons, beginner to intermediate-advanced level classes, team building, surfing awareness for adults, parties, ladies only, mothers’ groups, adults before work classes, school groups and corporates.

We also work with school groups and specialise in tailoring PE programs to suit the school.

The school offers the “Frothing Grommets” learn to surf programs specially developed by Currumbin Alley Surf School for kids.  It is rated as one of the best kids learn to surf programs in Australia, with highly experienced surf coaches delivering the program and loads of fun. 8-week program and 5-day holiday programs are available.

Surf lessons are held at Currumbin Alley Beach.  It is by far the safest and easiest location to learn to Surf on the Gold Coast, offering gentle, sand bottom waves ideal for the first-time surfer or those looking to refine skills such as turning and duck-diving.

Located just off the Gold Coast Highway only 5 minutes’ drive from Coolangatta Airport and 5 minutes’ drive either way from world class point breaks Burleigh Point and Kirra.

Currumbin offers a sheltered and less intense option for learn to surfers than other Gold Coast Beaches as well as offering a more laid back and learner friendly environment.
