Learn how to stand up paddle and have lessons at SUB 6, an ASI accredited stand up paddle school, located at Whiterocks Beach in Portrush, on the beautiful Causeway Coast in County Antrim, Ireland.
Meet the Team
SUB 6 is owned and run by Carl Russell. He’s been operating a surf school since 2005 and got involved in stand up paddle to keep fit and active, when there was no surf.
Carl is a Level 2 Stand Up Paddle Instructor (Exposed Waters), an elite advanced surfer with sports athlete specific training and expertise. He also holds ASI Level 2 Surfing Coach, RLSS Beach Lifeguard, NASM Level 3 Personal Trainer, Reps Registered and Insured Level 2 Reps Fitness Instructor, Spin Instructor, Life Support 3 First Aid qualifications and is an RLSS beach lifeguard trainer.

SUB 6 offers group and private lessons, SUP Wise learn to SUP certificate courses, SUP tours, team building and rentals for kids, adults, backpackers, parties, hens and stag parties, school groups, and corporates
SUB 6 specialises in programs for school groups, whether it be primary or secondary - 8 weeks of programs giving students more of an insight into safe stand up paddling and water knowledge. SUP programs are also available for Youth and Sports Clubs.
SUB 6 can help with accommodation and have a SUP and surf shop so can help you find the right gear at a great price. Photo shots and video of your stand up paddling experience are also available.
SUB 6 also offer learn to surf lessons and advanced surf coaching.

Location Features
SUB 6 is based at Whiterocks Beach in Portrush. It is a spectacular location, being situated on a mile long peninsula extending into the Atlantic Ocean on the North coast of Ireland with panoramic views over the ocean of the Causeway Coast towards Scotland and the Donegal hills.
Sessions are conducted in the protected and calm waters of Portrush Harbour and Portballintrae Harbour at Portrush.
On the days when the ocean is flat, sessions are also held at Whiterocks Beach.
Tourist Attractions
Giants Causeway – on the coastline and is famous for its 40,000 interlocking basalt columns, the result of an ancient volcanic fissure eruption. It’s a UNESCO World Heritage Site, surrounded in myth and legend. Only a 15 minute drive from Portrush.
