Learn how to Stand Up Paddle and have stand up paddle lessons with SUP Surfing Peru, an ASI accredited learn to SUP school, located at Punta Hermosa, just 30 minutes drive south of Lima.
SUP Surfing Peru is owned and run by Pamela Portugal. She grew up in beachside town of Punta Hermosa and competed at early age in Bodyboarding, even travelling to Japan. She has always been involved in water and adventure sports and has been a surfing instructor in Hawaii, a snowboard instructor at Lake Tahoe and a river rafting guide in Alaska.
Pamela was introduced to stand up paddle in Hawaii in 2008 and loved it. She returned to Peru and started the SUP School in 2010. It is the first stand up paddle school in Peru.
Pamela is an accomplished paddler and holds Level 2 SUP Exposed Waters and Level 3 SUP Surf instructor qualifications, water rescue and senior first aid certificates. She travelled to Australia to complete her qualifications.
She is assisted in the SUP school by ASI Accredited instructors, with great local knowledge and experience.
SUP Surfing Peru offers group and private stand up paddle lessons, stand up paddle clinics, guiding tours and adventures for families, kids, adults, parties, school groups, community groups and corporates. SUP fitness sessions for before and after work are offered as well as custom supping trips to various locations in Peru.
SUP Surfing Peru is also the distributor for Coreban SUP boards. If you want to purchase a SUP board, Pamela can help you choose the right board for your height and ability.
Lessons and tours are held at Punta Hermosa and various locations from Lima to Punta Hermosa and further south to Santa Maria. Pamela will find the best conditions for paddling in sheltered flat water. And you can also progress to sup surfing small waves, with much practice. It’s up to you.
Pamela has a lot of experience and patience. She will teach you the skills of supping and also water safety and knowledge and respect for the environment. Above all, it’s about having fun and getting health and connecting with nature
