Overview
At this level you can perform some advanced level surfing manoeuvres - roundhouse cutback, re-entry, fade, stall and tail-slide. How to predict surf conditions, choose suitable waves, negotiating larger waves. Gain experience surfing at beach breaks and points breaks in surf up to 6ft.
The below knowledge and skills is the minimum requirement to be an ASI Level 2 Surfing Instructor.
Aim
Demonstrate ability to control the surfboard and link advanced level surfing manoeuvres – fade, stall, re-entry, and roundhouse cutback at beach and point breaks. Riding fibreglass shortboard in surf up to 6ft.
Locations and Conditions
Beach break, point break
Wave height above 3ft (1 metre) –up to 6ft (3 metres)
Open face peeling waves
peaking left or right
Rips present
Wind speed less than 35 kilometres per hour (approx. 20 miles per hour)
Free from hazards such as marine creatures, pollution, etc.
