Introducing Davide Corsi, ASI SUP Instructor, Melbourne Australia
Posted: 1 April 2025

The salty air of St. Kilda, Melbourne, carries the sounds of gentle waves and excited chatter – the perfect backdrop for Davide Corsi's daily life. A multi-discipline ASI instructor, Davide's connection to the water is more than just a profession; it's a way of life.
What is your background?
Originally from Italy, I now currently live in Melbourne.
Growing up along the coast, the ocean was Davide's constant companion. "I've always been drawn to the ocean," he reflects, "and that passion has led me to become a multi-discipline instructor." Melbourne, with its diverse waterways, became his classroom.
It wasn't just about teaching a sport; it was about sharing a deep-seated love for the water.
What got you involved in the sport?
Stand Up Paddleboarding, or SUP, captured Davide's attention with its unique blend of tranquility and adventure.
"I was drawn to SUP by its versatility," he explains, "and the unique perspective it offers on our waterways. I love that it can be both a relaxing way to connect with nature and an effective workout."
He saw SUP as a way to open the doors of the ocean to a wider audience.
Why did you become an ASI instructor?
Davide's desire to share his passion led him to the ASI.
"I became an ASI instructor because I wanted to provide the highest quality instruction possible," he says. "The ASI's rigorous training and commitment to safety gave me the confidence to teach a variety of water sports, including SUP.
Being a multi discipline instructor was very important to me." He believed that a solid foundation in safety and teaching methodology was crucial for creating positive experiences.
What are you doing now ?
Now, Davide spends his days on the water, guiding students of all levels.
"Currently, I'm focused on instructing SUP and other water sports, sharing my knowledge and passion with students of all levels.
I am based in Melbourne and enjoy teaching on the bays and rivers here." Whether it's a beginner taking their first tentative strokes or an experienced paddler refining their technique, Davide approaches each lesson with enthusiasm and patience.
What do you like about being an instructor?
"What I love most is seeing the transformation in my students," he shares, his eyes lighting up.
"Witnessing their progress, building their confidence, and seeing them discover the joy of being on the water is incredibly rewarding. I like to see people learn new skills."
He thrives on the moments when a student overcomes a challenge, realizing their own potential.
Tell us about funny or interesting or nice situation that has happened to you with instructing?
One particular lesson stands out in Davide's memory.
"One particularly memorable moment was with a student who was initially quite nervous about trying SUP. After a patient lesson, they not only stood up but paddled with confidence, expressing how much they enjoyed the calm of the water.
It was a wonderful feeling to see them overcome their fears and discover a new passion."
Those moments, he believes, are what make teaching so fulfilling.
