ASI instructors are in demand in summer seasons. !
Working in Australia
Summer months are November to May. Overseas surfing instructor certification is not acceptable in Australia. ASI is local based at Bondi Beach and is approved.
Hold ASI instructor certificate (non ASI instructors may be able to transfer to ASI) See Courses (Transfer Option)
First Aid training is is regulated in Australia and issued by Registered Training Organisations. You must hold the Australian first aid certificate valid for 3 years. The minimum acceptable is Apply First Aid (Course code HLTAID011) See First Aid certificates info
Rescue Certificates - overseas rescue certificates may be accepted. However local requirements are that surf rescue certificates are only valid for 12 months. See Rescue certificates info
Working with children check required, depending on which state you live in (your school owner will advise on this).
Working in the Northern Hemisphere
Northern Hemisphere includes UK, Ireland, Europe and USA.
Summer months are April to September.
Working in Portugal
Summer months are April to October.
Instructors are in demand. Plus surf / SUP camp staff for cleaning, cooking, transporting etc. Surf camps often include accommodation.
To work as a Surfing Instructor in Portugal, you need to hold the Portuguese Treinadore De Surfing Grau 1 course.
Interns need to have attended Treinadore de Surfing Grau1 training course pratical and theory completed before starting an internship.
